Aahar Yojana is a very impressive scheme of the state govt. of Odisha. This scheme was started by the chief minister Navin Patnaik on 1st April 2015. in this scheme, the Odisha govt. has a mission to provide lunch to the poor at cheap prices. It is also known as a food subsidization program operated by the Ministry of Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, Odisha.

The Odisha Govt. started this scheme to provide cooked meals to the urban poor at the cost of Rs.5/-
Aahar Yojana started with the objective of providing cooked meals to the urban poor at the cost of Rs.5/-
This food subsidization program came into existence in April 2015 and is operated by the Ministry of Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, Odisha.
Every day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the government serves Bhata (boiled rice) and Dalma at designated locations. Night meals are served from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The total cost of the meals provided (rice and Dharma) is about 20 rupees, but the state government provides a subsidy of 15 rupees.
In February 2019 there were 30 New Aahar centres were launched by C.M. of Odisha. after this announcement 158 Aahar centres covering all urban and rural areas of Odisha. Under this Scheme, state government covers 56 hospital campuses including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS).
According to this revised scheme any person of the state will sponsor meals of their choice. People can donate money under the program and donations will be accepted online on the official website. The donation made under the program is completely tax-free.
The poor and laborers who come to the city to find work will mainly benefit from Aahar Yojana. The total cost of the meals provided (rice and Dharma) is about 20 rupees, but the state government provides a subsidy of 15 rupees. The cost of the rest of the meal, i.e. rupees. 15 / -Supported by CSR, local donations, charities, CMRF, and more. About 67,000 poor people benefit from the state every day.
The scheme is supported by 14 implementing partners: Touchstone Foundation (a sister organization of the Akshaya Patra Foundation), Manna Trust (a sister organization of the Naandi Foundation), Jana Kalyana Parisad Balasore, Neighbor Bhadrak, Gram Uthan Kendrapada, and Abhijit Sahayog Samiti Trust. It is carried out. Rotary Club Nayagarh, Maa Baisnabi SHG Titlagarh, Maa Mangala SHG Phulbani, Arati SHG Malkangir, Nari Jagruti SHG Balimela, Sonepur District Rice Miller Association, Pragati SHG Bolangir, National Institute of Professional Studies Anandpur, Paradeep.
In Odisha, there are more than 150 Aahar Kendras to implement this scheme.
