Namami gange yojana is to make Ganga. government of Uttar Pradesh takes the biggest step that No farming will be done on the banks of the Ganges and if there is farming, then only organic farming will be done. By doing organic farming, Ganga will be polluted free and the water will also be clean. the union cabinet takes major steps and spends Rs 20.000 crore to clean Ganga.The basic cleaning start from the upper surface of the river. this project starts from Gangotri, Haridwar, Kanpur, Allahabad, Banaras, Ghazipur, Ballia, 4 in Bihar and 6 in Bengal, renovation of old ghats, new ghats, changing rooms, toilets, seating areas, Sewage Treatment plant, oxidation plant will be used for water purification through bioremediation process. Everything will be checked.
