Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj:-  Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj was born on 10 October 1946 in Sadalga, Belgaum district, Karnataka state. He was an Indian Digambara Jain Acharya (Digambar Jain monk). He was honored for both his education and tapasya (austerity). He was noted for spending lengthy hours in meditation.

While he was born in Karnataka and practiced diksha (spiritual discipline) in Rajasthan, he spent much of his time in the Bundelkhand region, where he is credited with reviving educational and religious activities. He composed haiku poetry and the epic Hindi poem "Mukamati".

His childhood name was Vidyadhar. He was the second of four sons, the eldest being Mahavira Ashtage Ji and the youngest being Anantanath Ji and Shantinath Ji. As a youngster, he enjoyed consuming fresh butter that was used to produce ghee (clarified butter). 

He was a non-demanding youngster who took what he was given. Vidyadhar loved to visit temples and teach his younger siblings about religion. He addressed both younger sisters as "Akka" (older sister). Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj death:- Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, a renowned Jain seer, died on Sunday in Chandragiri Teerth in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district, after performing. Sallekhna is a Jain religious practice that involves voluntary fasting till death for spiritual cleansing, according to a statement from the teerth.

Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj reached Samadhi through 'Sallekhna' in Chandragiri Teerth at 2:35 a.m., according to the statement. "Maharaj had been residing on the teerth in Dongargarh for the last six months and had become ill in recent days. For the last three days, he had been performing sallekhna, a religious practice of willingly fasting to death, and had stopped drinking and eating. "According to Jainism, it is a vow taken for spiritual purification," the statement read.

A procession will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. to pay respect to the dead seer, with the last rituals taking place in Chandragiri teerth, according to the statement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dongargarh, a prominent pilgrimage destination, on November 5 to see Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj to seek his blessings ahead of the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections last year.
