Altina Schinasi Career: - Altina began working with Peter Copeland, creating windows for Fifth Avenue businesses. Schinasi's success came early in her career when she designed and commercialized the Harlequin eyeglass frame, which defined glamour in the late 1930s. Schinasi traveled west to Los Angeles in the 1940s, hoping to devote more time to her work. She initially expanded and then sold her eyeglass business. Schinasi began painting seriously, and her enormous canvases were chosen for a juried show at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Schinasi created and produced George Grosz's Interregnum, a short documentary film featuring the acclaimed artist and Schinasi's former teacher's anti-Nazi efforts. Schinasi made a film out of her drawings, shot on 16mm film.

Following the popularity of George Grosz's Interregnum, Schinasi was drawn to Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington, for which she obtained film rights. Schinasi was inspired to merge the function of the seat with the form of the sitter after seeing Cartier-Bresson's photograph of unoccupied seats.  Altina, a documentary about her life, was released in 2014. Google will honor her with a Doodle on August 4, 2023.
