Early Life: - Demetriou is the youngest son of Greek Cypriot immigrants to the United States. Jim Demetriou, his older brother, played senior football for Essendon in the mid-1970s. He received his formal education at La Trobe University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1983 and a Diploma of Education in 1984.
