Early Life: - Postecoglou was born in the Greek town of Nea Filadelfia to father Dimitris "Jim" Postecoglou and mother Voula. After Dimitris lost his company during the 1967 Greek military takeover, the family relocated to Australia by boat in 1970, including five-year-old Angelos. Angelos was raised in Melbourne, Victoria. He began playing Australian rules football at a young age and has been a lifetime follower of the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League. In an interview, Postecoglou described how his father, who died in 2018, worked hard every day of his life: "People claim they go to another nation in search of a better life. My parents did not have a better life, therefore they moved to Australia to create possibilities for me."
Career: - Postecoglou joined South Melbourne as a nine-year-old and went through the youth levels to play 193 games for them in the National Soccer League as a one-club player from 1984 to 1993.
