The ratio of girls in contrast to the boys has dropped due to female feticide in India. Reason being the technology of ultra sound has made it possible to determine the sex of the child during the pregnancy.

The root causes of such abortions are dowry system existing in several parts of the country. To address this problem, Government of India is come forward and formed a National Executive Committee for the promotion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) nationwide. The logo Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) means “Save Girl Child” and “to educate the Girl Child”. It was launched 6 years ago on January 22, 2015.

• Visit the official website https://wcd.nic.in/ of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
• A home page will appear in front of you with an option of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”. You have to click on this option for registration purpose.
• Next page that will appear on the screen will ask you to provide details like name, fathers’ name, date of birth and other details.
• Click on the submit button after checking all the details thoroughly.

• Copy of Adhaar card of either of the parents.
• Voter ID Card/Passport/Driving license of either of the parents.
• Passport size photograph
• Birth certificate.

• The girl must be a permanent resident of India.
• The maximum age limit of the girl child for registration shall not exceed 10 years.
• A bank account in Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA) shall be opened in the name of the girl child.
