Bishan Singh Bedi Wiki:- Bishan Singh Bedi was an Indian cricketer. He was born on 25 September 1946 in Amritsar, Punjab, British India. He was mostly a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. From 1966 to 1979, he represented India in Test cricket, when he was a member of the renowned Indian spin quartet. He participated in 67 Test matches and claimed 266 wickets. In 1976, Bedi took over as captain of India, replacing Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. In the third Test of the 1976 series, India defeated the West Indies at Port-of-Spain, where they set a record-breaking 406 in the fourth innings. This was his maiden Test victory as captain.
In 22 Test matches, he led the national team as captain as well. Bedi has long been renowned for his candid and outspoken opinions on cricket-related issues. He donned a vibrant patka. He received the C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 as well as the Padma Shri Award in 1970. He was the first captain to give up a cricket match for an international team in November 1978. He had threatened to throw the entire Indian team into the sea on the way back in 1990 after he had overseen a tour in which the team had performed badly.
