Early Life & Career: - McGrath collaborated with Mitch Miller, serving as the featured tenor on Miller's NBC-TV singalong series Sing Along with Mitch for four seasons from 1960 to 1964. He sang on Walt Kelly's CD Songs of the Pogo.

McGrath was a regular cast member on Sesame Street from 1969 through 2016, as Bob Johnson. He also appeared in the 2019 Sesame Street 50th Anniversary Celebration TV special. He received a grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists Award in 1995. McGrath's Sing Me a Story was nominated for children's album of the year at the 7th Annual Independent Music Awards.
