Early Life: - Brad Marchand was born on 11 May 1988, in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, a suburb of the Halifax Regional Municipality. Marchand began playing hockey at age 7 in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, and quickly developed an aggressive playing style.
Marchand dealt with his anger during his upbringing, and as a teenager, he attended anger management programs. As his hockey career progressed, he began seeing a sports psychologist to help him deal with his on-ice problems.
Career: - The Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) were selected Marchand 24th overall in the 2004 QMJHL Entry Draft. He scored 29 goals and 66 points in 68 regular season games, and another five goals and 14 assists in 20 playoff games, leading the team to the President's Cup championship and the Memorial Cup final. He played in 26 regular-season games for Halifax, scoring 29 points in the process, before leading the team with 18 postseason points in 14 games.
