Early Life & Career: - Belt was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2009 Major League Baseball draught following his junior year, and he signed for a signing bonus of $200,000. He was selected a Baseball America Minor League All Star and a MiLB Organization All Star in 2010 while playing for the San Francisco Giants' Class-AAA club Fresno Grizzlies. Belt was called up to the Giants on July 19 to relieve struggling first baseman Aubrey Huff.

Belt blasted a single home run and a tiebreaking two-run double in the seventh inning to help the Giants overcome the Dodgers in his first game back in the majors. Belt equaled his career best of 18 home runs in 2017 before sustaining a season-ending injury on August 4. Belt set a new MLB record on April 22 by seeing 21 pitches in a single at bat against Angels starting pitcher Jaime Barria. Belt struck out on 16 pitches (15 with two strikes)[53] in his first plate appearance of the game, at the top of the first inning.
