Early Career: - Glennie was born in the Scottish town of Methlick, Aberdeenshire. Her artistic growth was influenced by the indigenous musical traditions of north-east Scotland. Her first musical instruments were the piano and clarinet. Glenn Gould, Jacqueline du Pré, and Trilok Gurtu were other inspirations.
