Early Life: - McLachlan began his career in sports management in 1998, when he joined Elite Sports Properties (ESP). As general manager of the Events and Entertainment Division, he was involved in a variety of sporting events, including the Summer Olympics in 2000, the Winter Olympics in 2002, the FIFA World Cup in 2002, and the Commonwealth Games in 2002.
Professional Career: - McLachlan joined the Seven Network in 2008, where he co-hosted AFL Game Day, a new Australian Rules Football review panel television programme that aired on Sunday mornings. He also worked as a match-day commentator for Triple M radio, calling AFL games on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. He also co-hosted the 2009 and 2011 Brownlow Medal 'Blue Carpet' ceremonies with Rebecca Maddern of Seven News and Rachel Finch of Seven Sport, respectively.
