Ujjagar Singh Bains was a clerk in BBMB Nangal and was involved in the construction of Bhakra Nangal Dam, and his maternal grandfather Late S. Kabal Singh Dhillon was one of the major contractors of Nangal at that time.
He is a part of many social movements and at the age of 18, he founded the Pan Punjab Union Youth Organization. He actively participated in the anti-corruption movement. At the age of 23, he was the founder of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.
