Himanta Biswa Sarma Biography: - Himanta Biswa Sarma was born on 1 February 1969 in Jorhat, Assam, India. He is a member of an Assamese family that may be traced back to Latima in the Nalbari district. In 2001, Sarma wed Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, with whom he had a daughter, Sukanya Sarma, who went to Mayo College Girls School, and a son, Nandil Biswa Sarma, who attended The Doon School.
He graduated from the institution with a Bachelor of Arts in 1990 and a Master of Arts in 1992, both in political science. Sarma then graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the Government Law College in Guwahati, and in 1995 he was admitted as a solicitor. From 1996 until 2001, he worked as a lawyer in the Gauhati High Court. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in political science from Gauhati University in 2006 and successfully defended his dissertation just before winning the election.
