Pete Townshend Wiki and Bio: - Peter Dennis Blandford Townshend was an English musician. He was born in Chiswick, Middlesex, England, on May 19, 1945. One of the most important rock bands of the 1960s and 1970s, the Who, was led by him and features him as a guitarist, lead singer, principal songwriter, and co-founder. Roger Daltrey was the leader of the skiffle/rock and roll group Entwistle joined in late 1961.

Over a hundred songs had been written by Townshend for the Who's twelve studio albums. These include concept albums, Tommy and Quadrophenia, rock operas, and Who's Next, a mainstay of mainstream rock radio. In addition, he had composed over a hundred songs for his solo albums, radio jingles, and TV theme tunes. Townshend was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 as a member of the Who.

He also won the Brit Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1983. He was honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. Townshend plays keyboards, banjo, accordion, harmonica, ukulele, mandolin, violin, synthesizer, bass guitar, and drums in addition to his primary instrument of choice, the guitar.
