The Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana, often known as the HRIDAY Scheme, was established to promote the development and enhancement of India's heritage cities. The federal government has made this step forward to improve cities and attract more visitors, and the scheme will also enable tourism to grow. In 2015, Mr. Narendra Modi launched the initiative. For the first phase of development, a total of 12 cities are considered.

The central government will fund the entire concept or project. The overall time required to complete the project from the start of the development process is 27 months.
