Early Life: - Chan was born on 7 April 1954 in British Hong Kong as Chan Kong-sang to Chinese Civil War exiles Charles and Lee-Lee Chan. His parents were so impoverished that they had to borrow money from friends in order to pay the doctor. Because the lively youngster was continually rolling about, his parents nicknamed him Pao-pao. Chan grew up on the grounds of the consul's home in the Victoria Peak neighbourhood, where his parents worked for the French embassy.
Professional Career: - He began his cinematic career as a kid actor in tiny roles when he was five years old. He starred in the film Big and Little Wong Tin Bar alongside several of his fellow "Little Fortunes" when he was eight years old, with Li Li-Hua playing his mother. The young actor featured in extras for The Love Eterne the next year and had a brief role in King Hu's 1966 picture Come Drink with Me. Chan was contracted to Chu Mu's Great Earth Film Company in 1971 after appearing as an extra in an another kung fu film, A Touch of Zen.
Chan performed as an extra and as a stunt double for the Japanese villain Hiroshi Suzuki in Bruce Lee's film Fist of Fury, notably during the climactic battle sequence where Lee kicks him and he soars into the air. In another Bruce Lee film, Enter the Dragon, Chan played a petty henchman who is slain by Lee's character. Sammo Hung assisted Chan in landing small roles in both Bruce Lee films. Chan also choreographed martial arts for John Woo's The Young Dragons.
