K. Ponmudy Wikipedia:- K. Ponmudy was born on 19 August 1950 in T. Edaiyar, Tirukoilur Taluk, South Arcot district, Madras. He is an Indian politician and former Minister for Higher Education in Tamil Nadu, who was disqualified in 2023 after the Madras High Court convicted him in the disproportionate assets case. He served as Tamil Nadu's Minister for Higher Education from 2006 until 2011. He was born in T. Edaiyar, Villupuram district. He holds a bachelor's degree in law, a master's degree in history, political science, and public administration, and a Ph.D. in political science. He is a graduate of Annamalai University.
Prior to entering professional politics, he was a lecturer at Villupuram Government College. He has been elected to the Tamil Nadu Assembly five times. He served as Minister of Health from 1989 to 1991 under the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, then Minister of Transport and Highways from 1996 to 2001. According to the Speaker, Ponmudy's membership in the state assembly has been restored.
