Early Life & Career: - Tripathi served in the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly six times, from 1977 to 1980, from 1989 to 1991, 1991 to 1992, 1993 to 1995, 1996 to 2002, and 2002 to 2007. From 1977 to 1979, he served as Cabinet Minister for Institutional Finance and Sales Tax in Uttar Pradesh under the Janata Party rule. He joined the BJP in April 1980, when it was constituted. From 1991 to 1993, 1997 to 2002, and May 2002 to March 2004, he was Speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly.

Tripathi was a Senior Advocate of the Allahabad High Court. He was also a poet and novelist, having written many novels. His primary literary works are two anthologies called 'Manonukriti' and 'Aayu Pankh". His work, 'Sanchayita: Keshari Nath Tripathi,' earned widespread acclaim. On the professional front, his opinion on the 1951 Representation of the People Act is still highly regarded. Aside from it, he published a number of other works in both Hindi and English. He also participated in the Hindi poets meeting, which takes place both in India and overseas.
