A high alert was sounded in Kengeri and surrounding localities of Bengaluru on Friday after locals spotted four leopards in the area within the span of two days.

Deer Carcass Found amid High Alert in Bengaluru

After the sightings of the leopards by the locals, the authorities searched the areas and found a deer carcass that was killed by a leopard in Kodipalya near Kanakapura on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

Seeing the situation it is feared that leopards are wandering into residential areas from Turahalli Reserve Forest which is located close to Bengaluru.

Reported Attacks

On Thursday, a resident of Sakebbehundi near T. Narasipur town in Mysuru district, a 22-year-old girl Meghana was attacked by a leopard when she went behind her residence to take some rest, she was rushed to the hospital with injuries.

Actions Taken by Authorities

Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) has taken some strict measures by creating a new layout in the surrounding regions of the forest reserve area.

A cage has also been set up to trap the leopards on the premises of a private factory in Tarabanahalli in Devanahalli taluk of Bengaluru Rural district.

As the local people have spotted the leopards several times within the past two days, fear has gripped morning walkers and local residents from leaving their homes early morning.

Safety Advice to the Public

The authorities and wildlife experts have advised people not to roam out alone at night. They also urged to keep away from the reserve forests, play songs on their mobiles or talk loudly during nights when they are moving around the areas close to leopard sightings.
