Maheswar Mohanty Wiki:- Maheswar Mohanty served as the government of the Indian state of Odisha's minister of culture. He represented the Puri seat as a member of the Odisha legislative assembly. Maheswar Mohanty was born on 26 February 1956 in Odisha, India. He earned his LLB from Utkal University and his MA in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University. In 1995, Mohanty ran successfully for the Janata Dal in the assembly elections. He received nominations for the BJD in 2000, 2004, 2009, and 2014.

From 2011 until 2019, he was a cabinet minister in the Naveen Patnaik government, holding positions in the departments of Panchayati Raj, Revenue, Law, and Tourism. Mohanty presided over the legislature as speaker from May 2004 until March 2008. During his tenure in Naveen's cabinet, Mohanty handled many portfolios including Panchayati Raj, tourism, planning and coordination, law, revenue, and disaster management from 2011 to 2014 and again from 2017 to 2019.

Mohanty's stronghold was Puri, where he has won the assembly seat on a constant basis since 1995. But in 2019, Mohanty's stronghold fell, as BJP member and now enemy Sarangi narrowly beat him by 4008 votes. Importantly, Mohanty had managed to stay out of all the controversy that had previously surrounded him. Maheswar Mohanty Death:- Maheswar Mohanty, the BJD's Puri strongman and a former speaker of the Odisha Assembly died on November 7, 2023, while receiving medical care at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. His age was 67. On November 1, Mohanty suddenly got unwell and was taken to the hospital.

In a medical report published on November 2, the private hospital stated that Mohanty was admitted to the department of neurology initially, and then moved to the intensive care unit. His health was still rather serious. Mohanty had also a brain stroke on October 31 and was hospitalized for a week.
