Sandeep Lamichhane has been sentenced to eight years in prison for raping an eighteen-year-old woman.
Nepal's cricket governing board suspended Sandeep Lamichhane after he was sentenced to eight years in prison for the rape of an eighteen-year-old woman.
The Kathmandu District Court's decision to suspend the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) was made public on Wednesday.
"We inform you that Sandeep Lamichhane has been suspended from all domestic and international cricket activities pending his conviction and sentencing," Cain said.
A single-judge bench of the Kathmandu District Court also imposed a fine of Rs 3,00,000 on the 23-year-old Nepalese spinner and asked him to provide Rs 2,00,000 as compensation to the victim.
Lamichhane's lawyer Saroj Ghimire has said in the press that his client "will appeal this decision in the High Court."

Kathmandu Police had issued an arrest warrant in September last year. Lamichhane was then a player for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League.
After his immediate exit from the team, the cricketer went back to his country and was taken into custody. Nevertheless, Lamichhane dismissed the claims as a "conspiracy".
The suspension imposed by CAN was lifted upon his return to the national team in February 2023.
Between 2018 and 2020, Lamichhane represented Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, where he took 13 wickets in nine matches.
Lamichhane has taken more than 210 wickets in 103 white ball matches for Nepal.
