His father, Vinod, is an actor, while his mother is a housewife. Vikram has two younger brothers and sisters. Arvind, his brother, featured in the low-budget Tamil film Eppo Kalyanam (2022).  Anitha, his sister, is a teacher. In the 1990 film Kadhal Kanmani, he made his acting debut. He starred in a number of low-budget Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu films in the 1990s, many of which remained unrecognized.
