Early Life: - Wiggins was born in Toronto and reared in the adjacent Vaughan neighborhood of Thornhill, Ontario. He is the son of American former NBA player Mitchell Wiggins and Canadian Olympic track and field sprinter Marita Payne-Wiggins, who is originally from Barbados.
His parents met as Florida State University student-athletes. He went to Glen Shields Public School for elementary school and Vaughan Secondary School for high school, both in Vaughan. Wiggins began playing organized basketball at the age of nine when he joined a Toronto under-10 squad. He was 5 feet 7 inches tall at the time (1.70 m).
Career: - Wiggins spent his first two years of secondary school at Vaughan Secondary School in Vaughan. In his sophomore year, 2010–11, he led the school's AAAA basketball team to a 44–1 record and the Ontario provincial title.
He scored 25 points and collected 13 rebounds in the final game, despite audience yells of "Over-rated!" He transferred to Huntington Prep School in Huntington, West Virginia, in 2011.
