Lifestyle & Career: - Kochhar began his career as a management trainee with the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI) in 1984. During her first year at ICICI, she was in charge of project appraisal and monitoring, as well as project evaluation in industries such as textile, paper, and cement. During the 1990s, Kochhar was pivotal in the establishment of ICICI Bank. Kochhar was recruited as one of the main team members in charge of establishing the bank in 1993. In 1994, she was promoted to the assistant general manager (AGM), and in 1996, to deputy general manager (DGM).

She was appointed as General Manager (GM) in 1998 and was in charge of ICICI Bank's big customer group, which managed interactions with ICICI's top 200 clients.
