Lifestyle & Career: - Nashville Predators picked Ekholm in the fourth round, 102nd overall, of the National Hockey League while playing for Mora IK in Sweden (NHL). He attended the Predators 2009 Development Camp after being drafted. Following the 2010-11 season, Ekholm agreed to terms with the Predators on a three-year entry-level deal for the 2011-12 season. Ekholm was selected to the Predators opening night roster following his attendance at training camp. After scoring eight goals and recording 16 points in 40 regular-season games, he was named the Borje Salming Award as the outstanding defenseman in the Swedish Elite League. Ekholm rejoined the Predators for the 2012-13 season. He was sent to their AHL club, the Milwaukee Admirals, on September 12, 2012. Ekholm concluded the season with 32 points over 59 games.
Ekholm joined the Predators for the start of the 2013-14 season in the second full year of his contract. He ended the season with nine points in 62 games.
