Four years' achievements counted

Kisan fair and exhibition program failed due to lack of publicity

Farmers missing from Kisan Mela, forcibly calling shopkeepers and crowds appeared.

Farmers did not show interest in the block level farmers fair and exhibition organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in Anaj Mandi. Neither the farmers were invited nor the fair was promoted. A few selected farmers were informed for the program a few hours in advance and they were given the responsibility to bring the farmers to the programme. When the farmers did not reach the program, the officials of the department closed the shops of the pesticide to show the crowd and forcibly made the shopkeepers sit in the program.

DC Dr. SS Phulia was the chief guest in the program. He said that the Haryana Government has given a grant of Rs 261 crore in the entire state for opening of Custom Hiring Centers for the farmers. A grant of about Rs 15 crore has been given to the farmers in the district. 100 Custom Hiring Centers have been set up in Kurukshetra. There are 419 villages in Kurukshetra and a Custom Hiring Center will cover farmers from four villages. 80 percent subsidy has been given on agricultural machinery for setting up a society in the Custom Hiring Center group. If the farmer wants to take subsidy on individual agricultural machines, then 40 percent subsidy will be given to those farmers.

He was informed a night before the program and asked to bring more and more farmers to the program, while the farmers are busy with the paddy harvest. In such a situation, the administration should have informed the farmers a week in advance. The program put up by the administration for the farmers was just a sham. There was no publicity for the program.
